jennmill answers:

A simple remedy that many people try is lemon juice. But be careful as it is acidic and can burn your skin. Try just a little area first and see what happens.

Have a look here. You will find dozens of recipes for homemade skin care products. You will find several that could help you with this. One thing you could try is a simple dermabrasion. Mix a little sugar with some olive oil and rub it into your skin. It should help.

Wax! Make sure you do it in the night so you don’t have a red upper lip in the morning.
Hair remover cream is ok but its very easy to have a terrible reaction to it!.. It happened to me once and lets just say it ain’t pretty.
Some people bleach but just because you bleach it white doesn’t mean you cant see it!

Go with wax it might be painful for a second but it keeps the hairs away for up to 3 weeks, make sure you dont catch a bit of your top tip in it though! Ouch..

is this short story good or naa?

Peeling the Pedals off of the Flower

Per.:1
English 11
Short story
3/6/09
Due: 3/9/09

“Boom!” The sound of the door slamming. She dug into Eric’s emotions; Anneliese was good at that, when she needed to be. Eric was a tall, muscular guy with brown hair, and brown eyes, with a tint of green on the outside rim of them. Eric had a smile that could melt a girl’s heart, and oh was there another guy who could be more sensitive? Anneliese didn’t know. She knew he loved her.
He loves me.
“I told you before, stop hovering, you know how claustrophobic I am,” Anneliese snarled.
“But babe, I want to be next to you all the time, I know you say I’m being clingy and super needy, but babe I can’t help it!” Eric replied.
“You need to learn how too control it, you know how I am. Oh my goodness you are ticking me off!”
“Actually, no, I don’t know how you are. I try to be with you, but you push me away, I try to stay distant and you complain that I’m too far away. Seriously, Anneliese, make up your mind, what do you want out of this?”
“See you don’t even want to be with me, is that how it is?”
Anneliese always had a way in these arguments, where she would pull out something small in the situation and make it seem bigger than when it was said and how it was meant to be said.
“No, forget it!”
“FINE! Just leave!”
Anneliese was a beautiful girl and Eric thought he was the luckiest guy alive to have her in his life. She had green/hazel eyes, brown and red tinted hair, she was about five foot, seven inches (not that tall compared to her other friends, who were nearing the six foot range), she had soft skin, and she always smelled so sweet with a different fragrance everyday, Eric loved that. Eric loved her, but he was being torn between the fights that were set up on a day-to-day basis. At this point she wasn’t sure if he loved her, but she thought not.
He loves me not.
Eric knew, though, that he would be with her forever, and that’s exactly what he wanted. Eric just needed her to grow up, because she was still, merely, a bitter sixteen year-old, while he was already eighteen -she was a week away from seventeen.
Anneliese had a best friend named Ariel. Ariel, Anneliese and Eric all lived in apartments by the name: Homecoming. Not the dance, just where people live. Home-coming, get it?! Ariel and Anneliese went to separate schools, but when they came home, they were inseparable. These girls met the summer before their freshman year of high school and their friendship has been instantaneous. Ariel was tall, had blonde hair, blue eyes. Ariel was Anneliese’s most gorgeous friend and most charismatic, nearly every guy that surpassed her wanted to be her ‘friend’, yes the meaning of this kind of friend was meant to be elaborated into someone more than a friend, or more or a less a boyfriend.
Eric went from Anneliese’s house to Ariel’s across the street; he was in dire need to talk to her. As he was walking he noticed a leaf fell –in the middle/end of winter. This leaf had some kind of significance, because he looked and noticed it was heart-shaped, he smiled, but within single breath that smile turned into a frown and he was flushed with anger, only because he couldn’t share this observation with the girl he loved so very much, simply based on the fact that he couldn’t sit in a room with her without them getting into an argument.
Eric knocked on the door and waited upon Ariel’s arrival at the door. And there she was.
“It hurts so bad Ariel.” Eric expressed.
“Huh?!” Ariel looked so flabbergasted, trying to recall if he told her he got shot or something.
“Anneliese, she always finds ways to get into an argument, win it, and make things seem more complicated than they actually are, or even should be.”
“Oh, umm…Well here’s the thing, Eric, Anneliese has a lot going on, I’m pretty sure you are definitely going to need to talk to her. She needs someone to talk to her when I’m not around to, and you are her boyfriend, it needs to be you, maybe you should just listen, she may just be venting. Just have a real serious talk with her. I know you two were meant to be, I know you can make it through this little bump.”
“Ah, I know Ariel; you’re always making things sound good, ok I will talk to her. Thank you so much, I love you princess… ooh is that your dads famous spaghetti cooking? Haha!”
“Haha! Yeah. Your welcome, anytime and, of course, I love you too prince!”
Ariel and Eric always call each other prince and princess, based solely on the Disney movie: “The Little Mermaid”. Anneliese always found this humorous and she was their little Flounder.
So now Eric was heading back to Anneliese’s house. To Eric, today seemed to last forever, as though it would never end. After-all, he had non-stop talking since he started talkin
i didn’t get to finish it because this thing doesnt except all the pages i wrote
but oh well, i just noticed it too. umm ok i will put on the endings on it, but idk if you will get the whole point if im only sending the ending, but you could try to get it
English 11 ending with realism: She began crying, he walked away, turned around and threw this small box at her, turned back around and walked away. Anneliese opened the box and inside held a ring. Anneliese began crying, she didn’t stop crying for hours, days, months. Anne never grew the courage to go back and try to explain herself, she knew it was over. Anneliese learned a couple important lessons that day: don’t toy with your boyfriends emotions, even unintentionally, and if you peel too many pedals, you don’t know what pedal will be left in the end, and what you get is what you get.
He loves me not.
Alternate ending (the way I would have wanted it to end):

She began crying, he walked away, turned around and threw this small box at her, turned back around and walked away. Anneliese opened the box and inside held a ring. Anneliese began crying, she cried more than she ever knew she could cry, this went on for minutes, her eyes very red, everything was foggy. Anneliese stood up and began walking and got only three feet before she rudely stumbled over someone, before she knew it her hand was being grabbed and she could tell words were being said, but all she could make out of it was:
“…Marry me?”
“Yes!!”
He loves me.
He mentioned before they went off “I love you babe!”
With as much glee as he has seen from her in a long time, “I know! I love you too!”
Anneliese never peeled another flower pedal for the sake of knowing if he loved her; she knew the answer. Anneliese got to explain herself to him and he also got to explain
explain that she needs to warn him before and also try not to yell at him anymore and he told her that he was always here, to hear anything she would ever need to let out.

Need help with friend problems?

Okay so this one girl and I just had a big fight. I got mad because her and my other good friend kept making fun of me.. But she was always the one to start it. Her name is Olivia. Olivia would always make fun of me and crack “jokes” that i seriously never thought were funny. One day we were talking about this one thing called outdoor classroom and Olivia said I hope I dont get stuck with losers, like Em. I was sitting right there. And one day I got this really bad gash on my arm and she likes to just play around and hit people and I told her dont, but she did it anyways.

So by this time this had been going on for a while now and I was pretty sick and tired of it. I was sick and tired of always being the joke between olivia and cassidy. The one that they could pick on whenever cause I always kept a smile on my face.

So that night, i confronted olivia. She got sooo pissed off at me. Shes like OMG IM JUST FREAKIN TEASING YOU! DONT HAVE SUCH SOFT SKIN! GOD! I was so upset. She was being so mean to me. I just was trying to tell her about my problems. The next day we didnt talk at all. Although I still talked to Cassidy.

The next day I go into school and Cassidy didnt talk to me the whole day. I was like okay whats going on? So the next day I found out from my one friend that all of my friends hate me just because of how i supposively “yelled” at olivia. They all were mad at me. I was so upset. I was about to cry because at that point, i only had three friends left. Later that night I texted cassidy and asked her why she was mad at me. She said she was just dissapointed because me and Olivia werent friends. Somehow i didnt believe that. Then i asked her about why everyone else is mad. She told me that they are all mad because they all think I complain to much about everything, and I start to much drama, and that I whine all the time. I never do that.. I started one fight this year. and it wasnt that big. That was it. I was pissed. Shes like just lighten up a little! then she was saying how olivia is so crushed about how im telling everyone about the situation which I never did. I dont get it! They didnt think about how I was feeling. I had just lost all of my friends that day just because of them! what was I supposed to lighten up for.

Today I went into school and asked my other friends and they werent mad at me. Thank goodness. Then i got home and olivia said on text why did you tell everyone? I hadnt told anyone about the fight. We had a huge argument and i was just trying to settle things! she wouldnt pick up her phone so i could talk to her about this. She then said to me how she never has any fun with me. So basically just said she hasnt liked me at all this year. She has been a big b*tch to me and I am sick of it. I want to fix this problem but dont. I just told her now that I am done with this friendship. I tried to fix it, but nothing has worked. I said that I was finished and she didnt care.

I still wanna fix it, but i dont. If I could fix it, I dont know how! please I need some answers on what to do. I am so stuck and have been crying about this situation for days. She blames the whole fight on me cause i over reaact and are to sensitive. Please help. I know this is long sorry but I just really need help.. Thanks!

Forget olivia, “friends” don’t do this. If she cant understand you and make you feel better then you shouldnt have to make her feel better. She started this and if she was to help make this better than she needs to come around to you. Talk to cassidy about it and tell her your part of the story. Whoeever leaves you over olivia really wasn’t your friend to begin with.

This is a sophism, or be, a weak logic?

Other argument: “Our [blacks] helped to build this country”. But it was partially valid only in south of US where had enslavement, alright? Inasmuch, in the north, the enslavement was rare (in the maximum had black women maid servants), But instead there were the white servants paid or was himself settler who worked on his land. And even in the south wasn’t blacks that made a draft of houses, buildings, ect of landlords, because in black Africa (of where the slaves came), had not elaborated buildings, but huts ? except, perhaps, in muslim Africa.

Note: It is a historical doubt that still hasn’t good explanation.

How do I get rid of acne scars on face and body, and stretch marks?

jennmill answers:

Laser surgery and Microdermabrasion are effective ones but the thing is it costs much. However, you can try natural home remedies such as:
Cocoa butter, Vitamins C-D-E, Aloe Vera, Glycolic Acid (comes from fruit), Shea Butter( for moisture), Retinyl Palmitate (is a type of acid that is said to encourage skin growth).
But in effective creams you can try, Trilastin. This one is effective as it rejuvenates the skin back to its normal elasticity. Trilastin contains: Soy Protein, Collagen, High Potency Elastin; elements which are unique structural protein complex needed for skin to be able to deal with stretch marks.
Trilastin isn’t just for stretch marks, it also helps heal scars making it appear like you haven’t got any anymore.
I do hope this could help out. The fact is this is safe too.
Good Luck,

Actually, occasionally, you can get acne on the legs or upper arms. But, the answer to your question is that there are more oil glands per square millimeter of skin on the face, chest and upper back, than there are elsewhere, so when the hormonal stimulus occurs for the oil glands to begin hypersecreting at puberty, these are the areas that would be most prone to breaking out.

All women get it, it doesnt matter how old or fit you are.

Though having a active lifestyle, healthy eating and flushing your system out by drinking lots of water really helps reduce it.

Also buy a body brush and dry brush the area every night before your shower, this stimulates your cells and helps with draining of toxins that build up in your skin. Then rub in a thick body lotion like palmers cocoa butter.

Keep on with the leg toning exercise, but also make sure your doing alot of cardio, like swimming, jogging, cycling.

I have that, too. (And I’m 17 yrs, 5’1 and 130lbs.) What I do, is, starting 3 days before i need to be in a bathing suit or whatever, stop eating processed foods and cheese, and get a lot of lettuce in my diet. That helps reduce it a lot for me. (As a quick fix.) And I walk a couple of miles every day. It doesn’t help with cellulite, but it helps tone.

And, by the way, I’m a vegetarian and it’s hilly where I live, so you may want to adjust my tips to your lifestyle. Hope that helps.

jennmill answers:

Ok…I HAVE RECOMMENDED THIS TO SEVERAL PEOPLE AND I HAVE DONE IT. IT WORKS!!!

I have had medium to bad acne since I was 12 years old. I have tried everything from pro active, clinique, clean and clear, and even accutane for a month. I have used Benzaclin (5% benzoyl peroxide and clindamycin) and Tazorac (prescribed Retin – A cream) without this cleanse and they did not work. WITH THE CLEANSE, they do work, or it simply maybe the cleanse. Before this, nothing worked. It is called the “oil cleansing method.” My skin is very clear, no pimples, and silky smooth. I always get compliments on it.

We are told to stripe the oil and dirt from our faces, even to the point of depleting our skin’s store of natural oils, which are there for a reason — to clean, lubricate, and moisturize/protect skin. Using oils to cleanse skin chemically makes logical sense. As like dissolves like, meaning only oil (non polar) and fat substances can dissolve other like substances. Oil cannot dissolve water, and neither can water (polar substance) dissolve oil. BUT, oils can dissolve dirt and oils. For starters you need two things: 1) castor oil and 2) a carrier oil ( I will list below)

1) Castor OIl. Castor oil is a natural antiseptic (bacterial/microbial killer)
2) Carrier Oil. These hydrate the skin, while dissolving and “grabbing hold” of the dirt/oil and carrying it to the skin’s surface, as well as delivering the oil into the pores to moisturize the skin. There are several carrier oils, each good for a certain skin type. For example, Extra Virgin Olive Oil is good for dry skin, grapeseed/hazelnut oil are good for oily to combination skin. Among others that can be used are jojoba oil, coconut oil, almond oil, and hemp seed oil. There are several others that can be researched online so you can find the best fit for your skin type.

I have oil/combination skin, particularly in the t zone of my face (forehead, nose, cheeks). I use the grapeseed oil/castor oil mix. I do it in the evening, as when I did it 2x a day, my skin was a bit dry. So I wash with black soap, all natural (or you can use any other cleanser) in the morning and use benzaclin and aveeno. It works so very well! Below are the instructions on how to carry out the process.

– Mix about 65% of castor oil in your hand with 35% of the carrier oil you choose. Rub together in hands, and smooth/rub into your face (I understand this maybe weird at first, as we have been told oil is wrong for our acne).

– Get in the shower and let the steam hit your face (to loosen up the dirt/oil in your pores) or get a hot towel, ring it out, and place on face in 1 min increments as often as you like.

– Get a towel, ring it out, and wipe the remaining oil off of your face. Be careful not to wipe with the same areas of the towel, as it may need to be rinsed with water, then continue wiping off excess oil.

– Et Voila! Face is clean. The steam loosened the dirt/oil in pores, carrier oil delivered oils to the pores, bound to the dirt/oil and carried it to the surface. Your skin should feel supple and moist.

– You can add what you like to your face after this, acne medications (which will now be penetrated deeper into face, because pores are less clogged), moisturizers, etc. After I cleanse at night I put on Tazorac and Benzaclin.

Please give this a shot. It truly works!! I would not recommend it if it did not. Try it and tell us what you think.

All the Best.

How much makeup is “PC” or acceptable for a 16 year old?

So I’ve been wearing makeup for a couple years now, it started when I was about 13, almost 14 I think because I had alot of blemishes, my puberty started when i was about 8, i had my first period at 10 so i was an early bloomer with lots of hormones. I had bad skin and lots of spots, and i was just fed up. i wanted something that would make it stop, lord knows i had tried tonnes of anti-blemish, products to combat acne, i was even on the Clinique 3 step (which i started at 11 and still am on now) but nothing seemed to work; so i turned to makeup, something that would cover my skin, but not be nessicarily bad for it if you chose the right prodcuts.
So here i am around 2 years late and, i wouldnt say total makeup junkie, but i LOVE makeup, its pue accessory, its so fun and you can do pretty much anything with it. I even did my friends halloween makeup for them which ranged from rouged cheeks to full on scary monster makeup; practice really does make things good. anyway down to the question, i’m not seeking “oh you wear too much makeup for a 16 year old! way too much!” or similar comments i’m simply looking for when you were that age, how much did/do you wear? and what do YOU think is acceptable for a girl of my age?
so on a regular day, obviously i dont wear makeup in the house unless i’m experimenting, but on a normal day, to go out shopping or a day out in the town or whatever, i would wear:
moisturizer, not really part of the makeup but its there
primer (optional) i would sometimes use a primer, depends on weather i can be botherd or not haha
foundation, this would usually be liquid, seeing as my teenage spots have still yet to be subsided, even though i do have a doctor prescribed cream for them, i need pretty medium to buildable coverage, i still let some of my real skin shine though though, it’s not all that bad, its just the discolouration and scars i have left behind from acne and the acne still there
concealer, obviously for under my eyes and any blemishes that the foundation didn’t take care of.
now here’s for the tricky bit, i use bronzer
blush
and highlighter
it’s for a look called “makeup without looking like makeup” it’s basically to trick your mind into seeing different things.
i use bronzer in the hollows of my cheek ever so slightly to bring out my cheekbones
blush to give a slight flush to the skin
and highlighter to give me a healthy glow
followe up by mascara, and i don’t usually use eyeliner without eyeshadow, the two just go together for me and i usually wouldn’t wear one without the other, but i usually save eyeshadow for special days out or whenever i feel like experimenting
and i’ll usually throw on a lipgloss or lipbalm of some kind, just something to keep my lips looking healthy.

So to me, this really dosn’t look like too much, it may to some people, but it’s just what i’m used to and what i like applying.
so what do you think? what do you/did you apply?
just so’s you know, i have a geat quote that will shush the “haters” out there
“makeup is an accessory, you wear it don’t let it wear you!”
The bottom line is, i feel comfortable with people seeing me without my makeup, sure i hate my spots and they hurt quite a bit, but it’s me and if people don’t like me then that’s their problem. I’ve gone out without makeup on tonnes of times, i just prefer wearing makeup.
so what do you say?

The only problem with wearing the amount you describe is, for a young teen it often feels like…”if a little is good, then more is better.” The only problem with that is, it isn’t true…especially if you battle acne. I wondered if you use a Clinique foundation as well? I was going to suggest the Pro-Active for your breakouts. I never had enough of a problem to use it, but have heard good things from those who do. I just use Cover Girl for foundation. My skin is VERY light so I have to buy one of the lightest shades, but it usually blends pretty well.

It seems like many of the cleansers and makeups tend to bleach the lashes and brows, so I use mascara and a bit of brow highlighter. You should think mainly…”health.” Anything that possibly drys or clogs your pores sounds like it would be counterproductive for you and less healthy. You probably look fine with just a little foundation and mascara, but your emphasis should be “skin care.”

How long are dark circles under the eyes meant to last for?

I know that for some people dark circles are like spots, they pop up at annoying times, but fade, and most of the time they aren’t there, when they are there they can normally be linked to a reason, eg a week of not much sleep or flu or something.

But for me this is a different story. Looking back I’ve never had completely clear skin under my eyes, even as a child, but tbh if you look at most children they do have some form of circle or slight puffiness under the eye.

But in my teenage years it got a lot worse.

Now the rest of my skin is perfect, I have unusually clear skin for someone of my age (now 19) I’m blonde and quite fair, I only drink water and milk and have done all my life, I am slightly under weight and I did consider that lack of iron may be an issue, since my hair also takes an age to grow, also a symptom of iron deficiency.

Thing is that nowadays the dark circles under my eyes are so bad that I have to use 3 types of concealer and foundation in the mornings to mask it up. If I don’t even people I’ve known for years ask me if I’m ill or even if I’ve been hit.

My dark circles are in more of a block in the corners of my eyes around my nose, and spreading to about half way under my eye.

It’s not just purple, there is just general discolouration round there, I can also see visible blood vessels, red/bruised areas around the sides of my nose, and white completely colourless skin between my normal skin, and my dark circles.

The skin under my eye is also visibly thinner, so after I’ve applied all my make up you can still see that the area around my eyes is noticeably shallower than the skin of my cheeks.

Now I know what you will say, get a good nights sleep, whilst it’s true that most nights I am up till 1am, however I don’t drink, I rarely go out at night, and let’s face it, most of the student population are up till the early hours of the morning.

So since my dark circles are more of a long term problem rather than an annoyance that can be solved my a quick fix cream, I was wondering is there any sort of alternative treatment I should be looking at? Like vitamin supplements or natural health care remedies? Any advice would be great. I don’t want to cover up my dark circles with make up forever.

jennmill answers:

Everything you’ve said, i am the EXACT same, im even a student too. I reckon that, well in my case, its down to genetics since my Dad’s side of the family have bad bags, is this possibly the same for you?
In some cases Vitamin A in excess, too much sugar and salty foods dont help, don’t know whether this applies to you? But if so then i would try and cut down on them. Or if you have pale skin (like in my case), well this can enhance the appearance of dark circles, so perhaps try and get a tan? Here are some home remedies for getting rid of dark circles: www.darkcircles.net/remedy

It will help, but you have to use it for many weeks or even months to see a difference.

There are a few things you can try.

Apply cocoa butter to the scars. Studies have shown that regular application of cocoa butter helps to fade scars more rapidly than some other creams on the market. Also, look for creams that contain naturally healing ingredients, such as shea butter, jojoba oil, castor oil and rose hip oil.

Try an over-the-counter medication such as Mederma, which is specially designed to treat scars. (Any cream that is designed to get rid of scars will work.) Healing time generally takes up to six months before any significant improvement will occur.

Talk to your dermatologist about Retin-A topical creams. These creams have been shown to greatly reduce the appearance of scars. Retinal creams encourages cell turnover. The new cells then take the place of older, scarred cells. Retin-A requires a prescription.

Start dermabrasion treatments. A licensed professional will use a dermabrasion device to treat the scars. Tiny crystals on the end of the device essentially buff away the top layers of your skin. With repeated treatments, you will see a noticeable improvement. Expect your skin to be a bit red and irritated after each treatment.

Have a look here. You will find dozens of recipes for homemade skin care products. You will find several that could help you with this. One thing you could try is a simple dermabrasion. Mix a little sugar with some olive oil and rub it into your skin. It should help.

It should anywhere between a few weeks, and a few months to begin showing results. While I haven’t used it personally, I know somebody who has. It took her almost 4 months to notice significant results.

From what I’ve read about this cream, its effectiveness is directly related to the severity of the scars it is applied on. Yours seem to be quite old. I guess it could take a while longer. Around 4-6 months would be my guess.
