Your Questions About Skin Care For Sensitive Skin Products

Laura asks…

Could someone recomend hypoalergenic skin care products for dry and very sun sensitive skin?

I have really sensitive skin and tend to react to scented products, my skin is also very dry and flaky even though I avoid the sun like the plauge (I like to stay pale and I burn easily anyway).
Could someone recomend me a good moisturiser and a sunscreen that is hypoalergenic and dosen’t look or feel oily? Especially somthing that would also help reduces the apearance of pours and redness?

I’m kind of an idiot when it comes to makeup and skin care products so any other sugestions on products, natural remedies, what to avoid, and just what would constitude an overall good skin care regime is appreciated.

Also I know diet plays a part in skin health so would anyone have any suggestions of what to be consuming/avoiding to help dry skin and to tone down patchy looking redness on the face ( I always look like I’m flushed or sun burned even when I never go outdoors).

An amazing brand that is scent free and natural is Aveeno. They have daily lotions with sun screen in them. I have very sensitive skin also, and this has given me no problems, ever. It is non-oily and honestly is a great product. To keep your skin looking good, drink lots of water, eat right, exercise, and be happy. Stress takes a toll on skin. Good luck and I hope this works as well for you as it does for me!

Donald asks…

what are the best skin care products for sensitive combination skin?

i have both sensitive AND combination skin… so either it’s dry, too clogged, or verrryyy irritated :/ it is really really sensitive, like the most gentle of products will cause terrible reactions and make my skin VERY dry and flaky. but it still gets oily in a matter of an hour or so. nothing will get rid of the dryness except no products for a week, just water and maybe cetaphil, but then my skin gets too clogged and not clean enough and breaks out again! i can’t get rid of the oil without drying it, i can’t get rid of the dryness without burning my skin with products, and every other combination of bad situations. help! 🙁 my skin is a nightmare :/ what products can i use to clear up my skin? any toner is too strong, and i don’t want my skin to get dry while using it.

any things you have used that work?

jennmill answers:

Try using something that isn’t necessarily meant for either clearing skin or moisturizing, because i know nuetrogena has a good one that is for sensitive combination skin, and it’s mostly toi keep it clean and that helped in both respects.

Maria asks…

What products can I use on very sensitive skin for cleaning and care?

My skin is very sensitive and will react badly to almost any product. There has to be something out there for me other than tap water?

jennmill answers:

Hi ive qualified in health and beauty maybe i can help. I also have very sensitive skin definately AVOID any stimulation such as steaming or a harsh exfoliant this will irritate and cause redness. I tend 2 use demalogica sensitive products or garnier(in the pink bottles) if ur on a tight budget. Keep cleansing, toning and moisturiser morning and night but wen it cums 2 using ur weekly exfoliant go 4 something like st ives scrub its brilliant make sure u get the sensitive one. For anymore advise visit ur local beauty salon/specialist 4 a consultation.
Having ultra sensitive skin doesnt mean u have a disease lol u just have 2 b extra careful, if there is still irritation id advise u 2 c a doctor or skin specialist.
Hope i have helped
x

Jenny asks…

after using new skin care products should skin be dry and flakey?

Im 13 and before now haven’t used any skin care products.
I used to have very oily skin and spots fo i tried to start using skin care products. I use simple moisturiser and sometimes some tea tree and peppermint but even when i just use a moisturiser, (simple for sensitive skin with out any colour or perfume) my skin now feels tight, a bit flakey in places and dry except for my nose. What should i do

jennmill answers:

Stop using the products. Keep your skin clean with a mild soap such as goat’s milk soap, water and a cloth, and moisturize with a little olive oil. Have a look here. They have dozens of recipes for homemade skin care products. You will find several that could help you with this. One thing you could try is a simple dermabrasion. Mix a little sugar with some olive oil and rub it into your face. It should help.
