Your Questions About Skin Care For Sensitive Skin With Acne

Charles asks…

night cream for sensitive skin/ acne prone skin?

I have been trying to make sure that my skin care regime is up to par. I have used moisturizer and eye cream since I started wearing makeup (I am now 25) but I think I need to actually move on to a night cream instead of just a moisturizer. Up until now I have always used the same thing on my face during the day and for bed. I have heard wonderful things about La Mer and I would be willing to shell out the dough but I have heard its not good for acne prone skin.

My skin gets red and itchy very easily and breakout easily too. When I am using the right products I break out with 3-5 bumps in a week but if I use the wrong stuff my skin burns and turns red and I get cystic acne. I know its important to take care of my skin. I really hope that I dont end up having to neglect my skin as not to end up itchy and red.

any recommendations for a night cream that wont turn on me. Price doesnt really matter as long as its not above 200 bucks. We only get one face right?

jennmill answers:

You sound like you’re describing my own skin. I just recently asked a similar question on here (but about eye cream) and was told to check out Clinique Moisture Surge. I’ve been using it a few days on my whole face and it’s lovely. It’s fragrance-free and non irritating, light and not oily but definitely moisturizing – and not a single break out yet.

Here’s a link directly to the product on Clinique’s site:

They also have another product that I’ve had my eye on but haven’t tried yet. It’s a skin calming moisturizer for red and easily irritated skin, called Comfort on Call Allergy Tested Relief Cream:

I hope that helps!

Acne care for sensitive skin?

I have really sensitive dry skin that also tends to be really picky about what I use on it (i’m allergic to benzoyl peroxide). I have mild acne currently, and really want to get rid of it. It tends to be either a lot of white heads, black heads or really deep acne that is painful. any suggestions on what I should try? oh, also neutrogena products seem to only dry my skin out more with no results and clean and clear has yet to do anything.

jennmill answers:

Try Clear. Now from Artistry…. It’s the best I’ve found… I get it at password beauty

Daniel asks…

Any recs for natural skin care for sensitive, light acne-prone skin?

Ok I am 19 years old and I have tried everything out there. Every commercial product out there dries my skin out–and I don’t like that. I have been using Cetaphil which has been recommended by many ppl but that is drying my skin out too and I do not like the idea of using chemicals on my face. I do use a moisturizer but even that is full of chemicals and I really don’t feel any improvement. I want something that will change my skin–not somehthing that just moisturizes when I use it!

I have been doing some research and was considering buying some Honey for a mask, Jojoba Oil to moisturize and aloe vera leaf to do a treament 2-3 times a week. I really don’t know what I can use to clean my face though.. Anyone familiar with these natural remedies? Any feedback? I would really appreciate it!

My skin: Sensitive, slightly oily in the nose and forehead areas and very dry in the cheeks. I do not really get “pimples” but I do get these tiny bumps-a lot. I have blemishes.

I get very dry after washing my face-and if I only use water it feels too gunky.

Mark asks…

What is a good daily facial and body routine for someone who has sensitive skin and acne?

I am 16 years old. I don’t know the steps for taking care my skin really. Normally I just wash my face throughout the day and just use an egg mask. When I take a shower I just use body lotion. If I added more to my routine will it improve my skin or just irritate it more. I am not sure how it works.. No my mom never taught me.. lol….. I read about scrubs and cleansing or toner.. and moisterize.. I don’t know where to start. You can suggest me some good products but I don’t think that will help for now and the fact that I live in Denmark lol. Just share me what you do daily with your skin… or what would be good for my skin type… like 1. cleanse. 2. scrub 3. toner????….. Thanks it advanced!!! <3 <3 <3

jennmill answers:

Here is your answer!

I have been through this before, and after years of experimenting with products and using Google I have found the answer. You have to (1) Cleanse, (2) Tone, and (3) Moisturize your face every morning and night.

Because your skin is sensitive, I have three nice products that should work magic for your skin! I have been using them for over a year now, and they are just wonderful and inexpensive!

(1) Cleanse – Clean & Clear Deep Action Cream Cleanser for Sensitive Skin.

(2) Tone – Clean & Clear Sensitive Skin Deep Cleaning Astringent.

(3) Moisturize – Olay Complete All Day Moisture Lotion with SPF 15 for Sensitive Skin.

You should really try this new routine out. Hopefully it will work out for you and the results will be heaven sent!

Victoria Principal’s Reclaim skin care Line good for 20/male with redness on skin/acne break out ?

I am watching the Victoria Principal’s Reclaim skin care line on tv now and was wondering if this will work for a 20 male with sensitive skin? I have tried Murad and Proactiv and both dont work at ALL. Is this only for older people because all the people on the infomercial is 30 and up. Thanks.

jennmill answers:

While I don’t have any personal knowledge of VP’s skin care line, I do know that’s skin care for men and vitamin c serum absolutely work. Diligence is the key. You must also eat better, take a good vitamin/mineral supplement, and drink water, water, water. Good skin is 50% what’s done from the outside and 50% what goes inside.
