Betty asks…

Skin care while pregnant?

Hello, I have adult acne, it’s not THAT bad now since using Exposed acne treatments. But I noticed that it has gotten worse since being pregnant with my baby. As I was browsing through the net I stumbled upon an article stating that using skin care treatments w salicylic contained in it would be harmful. I don’t buy it. I mean come on now they say don’t do this or that and in other countries they do anyway and it works .. Is this another opinion meant to scare new mothers? Is there someone out there that is pregnant and uses acne treatments and gave birth to perfect fine babies? Thank you for any input/advice!

>>Use the right skin care products for you

“Since some topical ingredients get absorbed into the bloodstream, you should know which ones to avoid during pregnancy. It is recommended that you stay away from retinoid, a type of vitamin A that speeds up cell division (quickening your skin‘s renewal) and prevents skin collagen from breaking down. Another chemical to avoid is salicylic acid. This mild acid is used to treat certain skin disorders, including acne, and you can find it in a number of skin products, such as cleansers and toners. Ensure that any peel you might book at a spa does not contain salicylic acid.”

jennmill answers:

I used Duac Gel and also Quinderm, both given to me by my own doctor who assured me they was safe.

David asks…

Which 3-step skin care products work the best?

I really need a routine for my skin at night, and I’ve heard people say if you’re going to buy skin care products, buy the 3-step ones with a cleanser, toner, and acne treatment. Which CHEAP skin care products like this work best for oily skin?

jennmill answers:

Becareful of the types of products you use on your face, especially if you have oily skin, as you don’t want your skin to produce more oil.
You really need to use natural products and try to avoid ones with chemicals.
Sometimes a toner may increase the oil production.
Always look for poducts which say oil free.

Sharon asks…

what skin care product is best for acne skin?

i have dry skin but have a lot of acne in regular time on my back, face, shoulders and near neck as well i have tried many products and home treatments to cleanse my skin but still get pimples a lot.. is there any specific product to clear the spot and reduce the occurring of my pimple..please give details too thank you

jennmill answers:

Benzoyl peroxide.
In pro activ and all of those big treatments, the main ingredient is Benzoyl peroxide.
Why pay $30+ dollars for them when you can bay $14 dollars for a tube of the stuff!
BENZAC AC basically saved my social life, I used it and saw results within a week.
Cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser that won’t aggravate your skin like Cetaphil, and dab the benzac ac on your pimples.
It’s amazing stuff, I recommend it to anyone who’s tried so many acne treatments with little/no results.
Here’s their site and theres a lot of pimple facts/tips on there aswell (:
