Your Questions About Use Makeup To Cover Acne

James asks…

Should I use makeup to cover up my acne scars?

I have lots of acne scars on my face. Besides, I still have some active bumps. I usually don’t wear makeup b.c I know it’s not good for my acne but I’m gonna be working as a nurse soon. Should I wear makeup at work to look professional/appropriate? And if yes, what brand I should use not to irritate my skin more? I planning on going to the dermatologist but in the mean time, I’d like 2 hear sum advices! Thanks!

jennmill answers:

Go to the dermatologist, so he can tell you a proper medice to aply on your skin, insted of pure makeup (They’re no good to your sking, especially if you are allergic).

If I were you I would only use proper medice not to damage my skin any further!

Good luck, I’m sure your skin will look magnificent!!!

Laura asks…

What kind of makeup should I use to cover acne scars?

I have some acne scars that I want to cover up and I’m looking for some makeup that won’t make me break out and that also has good coverage and looks natural. Any suggestions?

jennmill answers:

Theres a brand called physicians formula made for sensitive or acne prone skin. Proven to not clog pores. If you want to look more natural and not covered up in pound of makeup then try something light like a tinted moisturizer and then concealer on the specific spots of scars/acne. Thats what I do. Also, make sure you moisturize. It makes foundation go on much smother and look more natural. Just get oil free. I have acne and it makes applying makeup a huge pain. So good luck in finding what works best for you!

Carol asks…

What kind of makeup can I use to cover up acne scars without clogging pores?

I was on accutane so my acne is from hormones and has nothing to do with not washing my face. I am left with some pretty bad scars and would like to cover them up. I use bare minerals right now but I don’t feel like it covers me up good enough so I would like to try a different kind of makeup but don’t want to put something nasty on my face…LADIES HELP!!!

jennmill answers:

Remove any make-up you have on. Wearing make-up can clog pores, making them dirty and causing pimples. Also try to wear oil-free makeup (if you have oily skin) or a medicated makeup.

Use a mild soap for sensitive skin but it doesn’t matter exactly what type of soap you use. It can be designed for acne-prone skin or not, but you will want to treat your skin gently. Harsh antibacterial soap may actually make your acne worse by irritating skin.

Remove dead skin cells regularly by exfoliating. Use a gentle scrub with natural defoliants like ground walnut shells, or use an over-the-counter chemical defoliant like salicylic acid or glycolic acid. Adding ground walnut shell to a thick moisturizer like cocoa butter can be effective too. Take caution, because over-exfoliating can actually increase the likelihood of acne by irritating the skin. Pat dry, rather than rubbing, since rubbing can cause irritation to the fresh skin you’ve just revealed.

Use a good toner. Spray onto face or wipe on with a cotton ball and wipe off with a clean, dry cotton ball. This gets rid of excess cleanser and tightens pores. Good, inexpensive choices include plain witch hazel for normal to dry skin, lemon juice, or 3% hydrogen peroxide for oily skin. 70% ethyl rubbing alcohol can also be used for severe oiliness, but it can really dry out your skin and irritate it more. Some toners are medicated, and this stage is the best for using a medicated product if you’re only going to use one medication.

Good Luck…
